Waliyy Dixon is one of the most popular and richest American basketball player who was born on February 27, 1974 in Linden, New Jersey, United States. Waliyy Dixon was a professional player during the United States Basketball League (USBL) for the Atlantic City Seagulls and Long Island Surf. He also participated at training camps as part of the New Jersey Nets before the 2004 and 2005 NBA seasons.
The year 1994 was the time a tape that captured the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic at Harlem’s Rucker Park was discovered by two of the AND1 Basketball’s associates, Jay Coen Gilbert and Seth Berger. This tape ended into called the AND1 Mix Tape Volume One was a national platform for streetball. It showcased some stunning moves of a not well-known player named Waliyy Dixon. In the spring of 1999 prior to even the AND1 Mixtape Tour was ever created, Dixon met with several AND1 representatives. After they discussed the scene of streetball, Dixon helped to bring streetball players to the family of AND1. He then teamed up together with AND1 for the hosting of the initial AND1 Mix Tape game later that summer at his house court, located in Linden. Over 2,000 people turned at 4th Ward Park to watch the game, which later became the footage that became Mix Tape Vol. 2. “Main” and the other streetballers then signed endorsement deals in the would expire. Dixon was a part of”Main” and the AND1 Mix Tape Tour from 2001 to 2006.
Dixon spent his early years playing streetball at his beloved local courts, 4th Ward Park. He was a student at Linden High School and was selected to be selected by Street & Smith as an All-American after his senior year in 1991-92. Dixon graduated as the school’s the all-time top scoring player (1,760 scores) and also officially ended his college career when he won the Reebok National Slam Dunk Contest. He stayed at New Jersey to play college basketball, and was enrolled at Rutgers University. Despite his success in high-school Dixon’s time as an Scarlet Knight was not noteworthy. Dixon played just the span of two years (1992-94) which averaged 9.6 points in the 26 games played.
In his post-AND1 Mix Tape Tour life, Dixon has embarked on several basketball-related projects. Ball4Real, a streetball tour similar in nature to AND1, was co-created by Main Event and a handful of other former AND1 players. It started in 2007, but after less than a year and a half it disbanded due to lack of revenue and media support.
