Ntombovuyo Veronica Mente (born 24 September 1978) is a South African politician who serves as the Chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). She is also a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa, after having taken office on 21 May 2014.
Mente became a member of the EFF shortly after its founding and was elected to Parliament in 2014 as one of the first EFF parliamentary representatives.
Mente, a native of the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town, was born on 24 September 1978. She began her career by working as a security member for the previous mayor of Cape Town. She was a “barefoot lawyer” in Khayelitsha who assisted workers. She was then a volunteer for the Labour Community Advice Media and Education Centre (LAMEC) in Khayelitsha.
