Takuma Inoue Biography

Takuma Inoue is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on December 26, 1995 in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Inoue has been named 2015’s The Ring magazine Prospect of the Year.

Inoue faced two time Olympian Nordine Oubaali on his 2nd Title defense on Thursday, November 7th 2019 on the undercard of Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire on the World Boxing Super Series Bantamweight Final. The Saitama Super Arena will be packed to capacity for the proceedings as Oubaali brings the experience and power advantage to the table while Inoue looks to have the speed edge.

He defeated Mark Anthony Geraldo to win the OPBF Super flyweight title. Takuma’s sound skills and technique, earned him his first championship when he fought Mark Anthony Geraldo (31-6), for the vacant OPBF Super Flyweight title, in 2015. At the time, he was just 19 years old. Before the year was over, he successfully defended the belt against Rene Dacquel (15-5). In 2016, Takuma beat Filipino stand out Froilan Saludar (23-1*) at the Sky Arena in Japan, before moving up to bantamweight. Saludar managed to drop him early in the opening round but Inoue returned the favor in the later rounds. The Japanese fighter was set to face Marlon Tapales (29-2) for the WBO Bantamweight World Title on December of the same year. Unfortunately, bad luck stroke Inoue as he fractured his hand in training, thus withdrawing from his one and only world title fight to date. Inoue made his return on August of 2017, in an epic war with 4-time world title challenger Hiroyuki Kudaka (25-16). Both men went back and forth for 10 rounds, exchanging shots and stealing the show. Takuma remained unbeaten and proved that he was back and stronger than ever. He went on to defeat former Japanese champion Kentaro Masuda (27-8) and Indonesian journeyman Waldo Sabu (12-11). Now back in the world title picture, his next fight could be the one he needs to finally compete for the big one.

He began his boxing career at the age of just a few years, following the example of his brother in high school, and winning numerous championships. After showing great potential in his amateur career, Takuma made his pro debut in 2013 when just 18 years old. aged. He was his first foe, the future WBO Minimumweight World Champion Tatsuya Fukuhara (12-3). Although he was outclassed, Inoue managed to pull off the upset and take an unanimous victory over the more veteran boxer. This was his sole fight in the division of light flyweight. He immediately switched to flyweight, and was confronted by an impressive opponent with Teeraphong Utaida (25-2). The move up to a higher weight class, nor the fact his change between 6 and 8 rounds scared Takuma, a youthful Japanese prodigy. In another fight, Takuma proved that he was an opponent to reckon with, going all the way and claiming yet another victory. After taking out an unbeaten Chalerm Kotala in his debut, Inoue beat world title challenger Nestor Daniel Narvaes (20-2) at super flyweight despite it being his fourth bout.

On the 30th of December, Takuma Inoue won vacant WBC Interim Title against Petch Sor Chitpattana in Ota City Gymnasium Japan. Petch Sor Chitpattana (48-0) has the record with the highest level of excellence across the entire division, however it was compiled in the face of ordinary opponents. Takuma Inoue’s career has reached a new high after having won his first world title and has a big fight in the pipeline. Inoue won a unanimous decision (117-111, (117-111), 117-111, 117-111,) to claim an temporary WBC bantamweight belt. The fight began with Inoue hitting Straight right hands successfully and causing a cut close to Chitpattana’s left eye. Through the first two round, Chitpattana’s head movements was virtually non-existent, allowing Inoue to relax his hands and control the fight in the early stages. Chitpattana was able to recover and begin throwing punches, some of them to on the back, however he was defeated by Inoue. In round two, Inoue’s output began to decline and Chitpattana was able to use his left hand in order to press Inoue. In the ninth round Inoue standing with back to the ropes hit a right hand which threw Chitpattana off-balance. Inoue completed his round by firing a string of shots. In the 10th and final round Inoue hit the body shot that stunned Chitpattana and regained the momentum he gained during the initial rounds. Chitpattana tried to re-inforce with pressure to Inoue in an attempt to work his body, however, Inoue did not prove to be powerful for Chitpattana to take on. In her role as Inoue is the interim WBC champion Inoue has also been named the primary challenger for whomever wins the vacant WBC world title bout with Rau’Shee Warren Nordine Oubaali. Inoue is the interim champion. WBC title was held previously by Luis Nery but was stripped of the title after not weighing enough prior to the title fight with Shinsuke Yamanaka earlier in the year. After several attempts to put on an event for the vacant title did not succeed throughout the year and the WBC came up with an interim title, despite being a non-champion when it was created.

For the 33-year-old Oubaali, he’s established himself as one of the top fighters at 118 pounds, but he’s at a point age-wise where he probably wants to unify soon if that’s something that’s on his agenda. A fight with Naoya Inoue, if he beats Nonito Donaire in the next fight on this card, would be a natural to make in Japan based on this result.
