Richard Keith “Stubby” Clapp (born on February 24, 1973) is a Canadian first base coach for the St. Louis Cardinals and is also a former Triple A manager as well as a professional baseball player. For 11 seasons, he played with the most notable being in the St. Louis Cardinals organization as well as a brief stint with Major League Baseball with the Cardinals. In his home country of Canada the player is most well known for his performance in his performance at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg in which he scored an unloaded base hit in the 11th innings to defeat a more experienced U.S. team and put Canada in the finals. Canada ended up winning their bronze trophy.
The year 1999 was the time Clapp played for the Canadian team that competed in the Pan American Games in Winnipeg. An extremely popular player among his fellow teammates, Clapp became a minor media figure in Canada after his game-winning base-loaded hit to beat his U.S. team.
Clapp played 23 games in 2001 for the St. Louis Cardinals. Clapp had five hits in 25 at-bats, including two doubles and one RBI.

When he was a kid, Stubby Clapp could be classified as a two-sport athlete being a standout player in playing in the Windsor minor hockey program. Following his time playing Bantam soccer in Windsor Clapp was a part of an important role with his team, the Windsor Bulldogs (now the LaSalle Vipers) between 1990 and 1992. In 1991 the Bulldogs were first in the league during the regular season . Clapp recorded five goals in the playoffs. In the 1991-92 season Clapp was named captain for the squad.

Clapp began his coaching career as a hitting coach for the Lexington Legends, the Houston Astros “A” ball team in the South Atlantic League. He came out of retirement to represent Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and was named to the roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
In November 2010, Clapp became the hitting coach for the Corpus Christi Hooks, Houston’s Double-A affiliate.
