Silvan Shalom is one of the most popular and richest Diplomat who was born on August 4, 1958 in Gabes, Israel. When he was an aspiring MK his first bill was in the academic area. In 1992, there was room for just 100,000 students at universities and there was no room for more. Shalom took action to allow students of all ages to be admitted when they quit their institutions of study after their initial year. The bill raised awareness of the issue, and in the end, Israeli colleges were established in order to improve students’ access to academics. In 2010 it was the first time that ever, there were more students enrolled in colleges than in universities. Shalom in his first term was the only male MK to be an active member of the Knesset’s Committee on the condition of women. He also served as Chairman of the Subcommittee concerning the capital market as well as chair of the committee for energy, and an active member of the committee on economic affairs.
