Brooker died of a suspected abdomen infection (cause of death was later found to be undetermined) on 8 April 2013 at a hospital in Los Angeles, California at age 58; less than one month after his final convention appearance. His name appeared in episode 7 of Hell’s Kitchen’s 11th season, which paid tribute to him at the end of its 18 April 2013 broadcast.
His last convention appearance was in March 2013 at the Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Festival in Nashville, TN.
