Michael Caines is one of the most popular and richest Chef who was born on January 3, 1969 in Exeter, Devon, England. Caines was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire on 17 June 2006.
Together they developed the ABode Hotels concept. Currently there are 5 hotels in ABode Hotels: Exeter, Canterbury, Glasgow, Manchester, and Chester. Caines was also executive chef for The Bath Priory from 2009 until 2017, a position now held by Michael Nizzero. He was appointed Director of Food & Beverage for Andrew Brownsword Hotels in 2012, a role he held until July 2014.
Caines launched The Michael Caines Academy in 2011 at Exeter College.
Michael Caines Restaurants Ltd was established in 1999. The Michael Caines Restaurant at the Bristol Marriott Royal opened in July 2003. Andrew Brownsword met with Caines in 2000 and they formed a partnership. In October 2000, the Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter was purchased. Andrew Brownsword is currently rebuilding the hotel after it was destroyed by fire in 2016.
In 1994, he was appointed Head Chef of Gidleigh Park. However, he suffered a severe injury to his right arm in a car accident shortly after. Gidleigh Park received a second Michelin Star in 1999. In 2001, Caines was named Chef of The Year at The Catey Awards. In January 2016, Caines left Gidleigh Park and was replaced by Michael Wignall, a Michelin-starred chef.
