According to the Sankei Sports newspaper, Kuwako had just divorced Tanioka one year after their marriage.
On March 20, 2020, Kuwako became an anchor for NHK News Ohayō Nippon.
NHK announced on February 13, 2020, that Kuwako would be stepping back from News Watch 9 and move to NHK News Ohayō Nippon in April 2020. The anchor for News Watch 9 was handed over to Mayuko Wakuda, who was at that time one of the anchors for NHK News Ohayō Nippon.
Kuwako was made an anchor for News Check 11 by Yoshio Arima in April 2016.
Kuwako was transferred to Tokyo Announcement Room in April 2015. She was appointed assistant for NHK’s travel program Bura Tamori. This helped her grow in popularity. She also became a newscaster on some news programs, including NHK News 7 (Shutoken News 845).
