Levar Stoney is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 20, 1981 in Nassau, New York, United States. Levar Marcus Stoney, born March 20, 1981, is an American politician and the 80th Mayor of Richmond, Virginia. From 2014 to 2016, he was the Secretary of Virginia and the youngest member of Governor Terry McAuliffe’s administration.
After the death of his father and his grandmother, Stoney started working as a consultant for Green Tech, an auto company owned by Terry McAuliffe. Deeds had lost to McDonnell in the Democratic primary in 2009. Stoney was appointed deputy campaign manager under Robby Mook to work with McAuliffe’s 2013 campaign for gubernatorial office. Stoney was appointed deputy director of McAuliffe’s gubernatorial transition group, which McAuliffe called his “closest advisor” during the election.
Stoney was sworn into office on December 31, 2016. At 35 years of age, he became Richmond’s youngest elected mayor. In March 2019 Mayor Stoney proposed a nine-cent per $100 assessed value real estate tax hike. He also proposed adding a 50-cent tax on packages of cigarettes.
Dwight Clinton Jones could not run for re-election as mayor of Richmond because of a two-term limit. Stoney became a candidate in the 2016 election to succeed him, announcing his candidacy after resigning as Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Stoney was an attorney general for Creigh Deeds in 2005, which narrowly lost. From 2006 to 2009 Stoney worked as a political director, then as an executive director for the Democratic Party of Virginia. He was a key member of President Barack Obama’s 2008 successful presidential campaign.

Stoney was a Governor’s Fellow under Mark Warner’s administration in the summer 2004. Stoney worked for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign, as well as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin as part of a get out of the vote effort. Stoney was the first African American male to be elected president of the student body and was active in the College Democrats chapter at the school.
McAuliffe appointed Stoney as Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia on November 18, 2013. Following confirmation by the Virginia General Assembly, he took office on January 17, 2014.
