Hunter Cantwell is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on December 30, 1985 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. Cantwell was a sparing player in the disappointing 6-6 Cardinals season of 2007. In the 2008 preseason, he was nominated to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as well as the Maxwell award.
After going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, Cantwell signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers. He was waived during final cuts on September 5 and re-signed to the practice squad the following day. The Panthers promoted Cantwell to the active roster on December 24 after quarterback Jake Delhomme was placed on injured reserve. Cantwell was waived during final cuts on September 4, 2010.
Cantwell had a contract offer from the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2012 offseason, but chose instead to become the quarterbacks coach for the Campbellsville University football team. He later served as head coach at Carroll County High School in Kentucky from November 2016 to 2018, and was hired as the head coach at Christian Academy of Louisville in March 2019.
Brohm sustained a thumb injury in the match against Miami on September 16, 2006. Cantwell entered the game and completed 3 out of 4 passes for 113 yards with 1 touchdown. Louisville defeated Miami, 31-7. Cantwell played the Cardinals’ next two games, both against Kansas State State and Middle Tennessee State, on the road. In a 24-6 win over Louisville, Cantwell completed 18 of 26 passes to gain 173 yards and one touchdown against the Wildcats. Cantwell, who completed 17 of 32 passes against the Blue Raiders for 340 yards, and 3 touchdowns, led the Cardinals to a 44-17 win. Cantwell was a key player in the Cardinals’ winning streak during the 2006 regular season. The Cardinals lost 12-1 to Rutgers in the final season. This helped them win the Orange Bowl bid, Louisville’s highest-ranked Bowl Game. Under Brohm, the Cardinals won against Wake Forest the 2007 Orange Bowl 24-13.
Cantwell was signed to the Louisville Cardinals’ football team before the 2005 season. Brian Brohm, the quarterback of the Louisville Cardinals football team, was injured in a game against Syracuse on November 25, 2005. He was out for the remainder of the season. Cantwell took over and completed 3 of 5 passes for an impressive 66 yard score, leading to the Cardinals’ victory 41-17. Cantwell began the 2005 season finale against Connecticut Huskies on December 2, 2005. He completed 16 of 25 passes for 271 yard and 1 touchdown. This helped Louisville to a win of 30-20. Cantwell was a good thrower in the 2006 Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech Hokies. He threw for 216 yards with 3 touchdowns. Virginia Tech won the game 35-24 despite his efforts. He was named the Cardinals MVP for the Gator Bowl.
On September 5, 2010, Cantwell was signed to the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, waived on September 9, 2010, and then signed back onto the practice squad on September 14, 2010. Cantwell was cut September 3, 2011, and signed to the practice squad again the next day. On September 29, Cantwell was cut from the Ravens’ practice squad.
