In 2004, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin welcomed their first child, Apple Martin, into the world—and she made headlines right away, thanks to her unique name. Over the years, it's been hard not to notice that Paltrow's daughter bears a striking resemblance to her. On May 14, Paltrow posted a new photo of teenage Apple in honor of her 17th birthday. In honor of Martin's birthday, Paltrow shared a photo on Instagram of her daughter sitting by the water.
The actor captioned the photo: "Can it be? 17 today?? My sweetest girl… YOU ARE MY LIFE! You make me belly laugh every day. You are brilliant and hardworking. You are fully YOU which I respect and admire so much. I wish I had had even a spoonful of the self-acceptance you have when I was your age."
Paltrow also said her daughter was "so inspiring" and "so cool," and marveled over the fact that it's been 17 years she came into her life. "I remember the morning you came into the world so perfectly," she wrote. "I just can't believe it was 17 years ago."
Paltrow also posted in honor of her son Moses Martin's 15th birthday on April 9. Though she and her children's father divorced in 2016 after 13 years of marriage, she remarried TV producer Brad Falchuk in 2018.

Martin looks even more like her mom now than she did in the photo Paltrow posted for her Sweet 16.

On May 14, 2020, the Oscar-winning actor posted a photo of her lookalike daughter for her 16th birthday. Alongside the picture of Martin, Paltrow sang her praises, again for her sense of humor, intelligence, and work ethic.
"You are the light of my heart, you are pure joy. You are wickedly intelligent and you have the best, most dry, most brilliant sense of humor. I have the best time being your mom," Paltrow wrote. "I love our nightly evening chats when I really get to hear what's on your mind. You work hard to get whatever it is you want to achieve, and you have grit and responsibility in spades. … Thank you for choosing me. I adore you to the moon and back a zillion times."
Martin has begun to follow in her mom's modeling footsteps.

Though she's not a full-time actor or model, Martin seems to be following in the footsteps of her mom, who has graced the cover of many magazines, like Shape, Elle, and Glamour.
At 16 years old, Martin was featured in a promotional video for Goop, Paltrow's wellness and lifestyle company. A feature story on Goop's website revealed that Martin enjoys journaling and playing guitar in her free time. "I love to make coffee in a French press; if I have time, I froth it with cinnamon and nutmeg using a hand frother, then pour it over ice," Martin told the site. "I don't love hot coffee."
As Martin has gotten older, she and Paltrow now share clothes.

In addition to Martin and Paltrow's similar looks, the pair shares a similar sense of style—but that wasn't always the case. "My daughter likes my style now, which is great because there was a period of time where she thought I was a total loser," Paltrow told People earlier this month. Paltrow said that now Martin borrows her clothing. "She likes my T-shirts and my shoes," said the actor.
