Clayton Blackburn Biography
Clayton Blackburn is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Pitcher who was born on January 6, 1993 in Amarillo, Texas, United States. On April 16, 2017 Blackburn had been traded to Texas Rangers in exchange for Frandy De La Rosa as well as cash considerations. Blackburn was called up in the Major Leagues on the 31st of July, 2017 but was not able to play an actual game before being removed three days after.
He underwent Tommy John Surgery after tearing his UCL in April 2018, and spent the entire 2018 season on the 60-day disabled list, and consequently did not appear in any games. He was outrighted to Triple-A after the season but elected to become a free agent.
On July 18, 2019, Blackburn announced his retirement from baseball.
Blackburn was a part of the Triple A Sacramento River Cats, finishing 10-4 and an 2.85 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 123 innings pitched. Blackburn was invited back to spring training the following year, but began the season at Triple-A. Blackburn was summoned for the Giants for the first time on May 12, 2016 but he didn’t appear in a game prior to being called back in Triple-A the following day on May 17.
As of 2012 Blackburn played in The Augusta Greenjackets. The Greenjackets finished the season 8-4, with an 2.54 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 131/3 innings. Before 2013, he had been listed in Baseball Prospectus as the 95th most promising player in the game. He was a part of the 2013 season with The San Jose Giants. He ended the year 7-5, with an 3.65 ERA, 138 strikeouts in 133 innings. Blackburn got invited to the Giants’ spring practice from his fellow Giants at the beginning of 2014. He was a part of the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels and also pitched in two games for the Arizona League Giants. In 20 appearances, he went 7-5 with an 3.31 ERA and 94 strikeouts in more than 98 innings. Following his season ended, he joined his team, the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League.
On December 21, 2018, Blackburn signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds. He was released on July 8, 2019, without having played during the 2019 season.
