Bryant Westbrook is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on December 19, 1974 in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Westbrook was picked during the initial round (fifth overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. In his first season Westbrook returned his first interception of his career for a touchdown. He also was the leading player for the Lions in defending 20 passes as well as making 54 tackles, two interceptions, and forced fumble. After the seasonended, Westbrook was selected as a member of the USA Today All-Rookie team.

In 2000, he was having his best season as a professional, until suffering a ruptured left Achilles tendon against the Minnesota Vikings and being placed on the injured reserve list on December 4. Despite the premature ending of his season, he registered 52 tackles (43 solo), a career-high 6 interceptions and led team with a career-high of 21 passes defensed. He also was named a Pro Bowl alternate and earned the Chuck Hughes Most Improved Player award, as voted by teammates.

In 2001, he returned to play in 9 games, making his first start on December 16 against the Vikings. He was not re-signed at the end of the year, after not being able to regain his previous form.

Westbrook was known for his strong tackles that would frighten his foes. One such incident occurred in the 1995 game between rivals Texas A&M when Westbrook landed an incredibly hard hit against Aggies’ quarterback Leeland McElroy. Whoo!” Westbrook was given a non-sportsmanlike conduct penalty for taunting after Westbrook walked up to an astonished McElroy and looked at McElroy as he passed through. The penalty was not a factor in a first down because the Aggies were within of the fifteen-yard mark. Half the distance from the goal line wasn’t enough for an initial down. The Aggies were forced to pull the field goal units.

The next year, he was moved to the left side, recording a career-high 77 tackles, to go along with 19 passes defensed (led the team) and 3 interceptions. In 1999, he was limited with hamstring injuries and a broken bone in his hand, appearing in 10 games, while posting with 34 tackles and 6 passes defensed.

On March 22, 2002, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an unrestricted free agent.
